6 Foodie Favourites

Updated: Jun 19, 2021

The only thing I like better than talking about food is eating ~ John Walters

If you’re coming to Bribie, you need to know where to go for the best food, so here are our 6 Foodie Favourites by cuisine.

#1 Thai

Bribie has one Thai restaurant – and why would you need any more. The food at Kinnaree Thai Restaurant is fantastic! Authentic, traditional Thai cuisine made with the freshest ingredients and extremely well priced. Dine-in or take away – you are in for a treat. Located on the main strip into Bribie, I would describe the dining experience as a cute little setting with some traditional Thai art pieces hanging on the walls. The staff are polite and gracious, but to be honest, it is all about the food. On weekdays you will likely get a table at short notice, but if you’re looking at a Friday or Saturday night, book in advance to avoid disappointment.

#2 Chinese

Loads of choices for traditional Chinese food. Sun Lai Chinese Restaurant first set of shops on the left as you come over the bridge from the mainland. Golden Gallery Chinese Restaurant in Bongaree near Aldi. Diamond Chinese on the main strip across from the library in Bongaree. But one of the most recent additions and popular choice for locals is The Nest Bistro at Solander Lakes Bowls Club in Banksia Beach. My favourite dish – San Choy Bow.

#3 Indian

Bribie has one Indian Restaurant. Located near The Coffee Club in the main shopping complex area, you will not be disappointed with the quality of food you receive from Rangla Punjab Indian Restaurant. My only tip is to order some naan bread to nibble on while you wait, and know that your main meals are going to take a while to prepare (ours took up to an hour). I promise you, it will be worth the wait.

#4 Modern AustraliaN – with a view

You will find loads of options on Bribie Island for Modern Australian cuisine, so I’ve tried to limit it to a few special spots with amazing views.

The Jetty in Bongaree is right on the waterfront and has more of a fine dining style menu with loads of seafood. Come here for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Charlie’s right across from Sylvan Beach at Bellara is a popular choice, especially for families. If you have kids – try out the Charlie’s Super Ice Cream Sundae – they will love you forever.

Sandstone Point Hotel has a fantastic selection of seafood, steaks and pizzas. Kids can play in the indoor media centre or in the outdoor park with swings and a climbing course. During the day there is a petting zoo and you will always find guineafowl and their chicks roaming free across the grounds.

#5 Japanese

The pick of the Japanese restaurants for us is Sushi Kuni. Traditional Japanese cuisine, made fresh with generous portion sizes, the food is divine! My favourite is the teriyaki salmon bento box with a side of pork gyozas. But watch this space, news on the street is that a Sushi Train will soon be opening in Banksia Beach!

#6 Sweet Treats

Hello Annie Lane!

Located right in the heart of Bongaree, Annie Lane is a popular destination for the lazy all-day bruncher with an insta-worthy menu selection.

But the real reason we all go to Annie Lane's is for the super naughty treats!

Annie Lane’s Crazy Shakes are bright, fun and delicious! If you have a sweet tooth, you will love these shakes.
