Moving to Bribie? Part 2: Things to do

Updated: Mar 26, 2022

Now that you’ve moved in and have all your essentials sorted – it’s time to get amongst it. There’s just so much to do on Bribie, and I’m sure I haven’t captured even half of it!

If you have a group or are part of a group and I’ve missed you off the list, please let me know and I’ll update the list!

DANCE & MOVEMENT

WALKING & RUNNING GROUPS

If you like a leisurely pace, a power walk, a jog or a serious run, you’re not alone. There are lots of groups to join you in your daily exercise. Here’s a few to see which is the right one for you:

TRIATHLONS

The Bribie Island Triathlon Series has been running for over 30 years. There are events for kids and first-timers. There are also teams events, short course and long course distances. The series is made up of four events held in October, November, February and March.

TENNIS

Professional, novice or just for a bit of fun – who doesn’t love tennis! Join the club or hire a court at Bribie Island Tennis Club.

LAWN BOWLS

Whether you are looking to seriously compete or just up for a bit of barefoot bowls fun, Bribie Island has a few clubs to choose from:

CROQUET

I have never played croquet myself, but the Bribie Island Croquet Club has four disciplines: Association Croquet, Ricochet, Golf Croquet and Gateball.

ARTS & CRAFT

The Bribie Island Community Arts Society has a range of groups that meet up weekly. If you’re not quite sure what group is right for you, you are more than welcome to pop in and see what they are up to – or even start your own group! Here’s a list of the current groups:

WATERSPORTS

You’re living on an island – so why not get involved in some water activities!

MUSIC

Have you always wanted to learn an instrument? Be part of a band? Learn how to sing? There are lots of opportunities to join music groups on Bribie. Here are just a couple:

WILDLIFE

We have some spectacular wildlife on Bribie. Here’s a way to play a part with our native animals:

CYCLING

Bribie Island is relatively flat, which makes it the perfect place for anyone to join in on a cycle. Bribie Island Bicycle User Group (BUG) is a fun way to explore the island.

EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

U3A (University for the third age) - Social and educational club for senior citizens with multiple courses under each of the 17 categories:

I am certain I have only scraped the surface of things you can do on Bribie Island. If you have a favourite group or activity – please add it to the comments and I will add it to the list! Subscribe below to stay up to date with more BribieGirl adventures.
